Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Caddy spoons emerged in the late eighteenth century alongside the popularity of loose leaf tea, designed specifically short enough to fit inside tea canisters. Danish silversmiths in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries incorporated national Arts and Crafts movements, such as Sknvirke, featuring organic and flora-inspired decoration.

Antique caddy spoons were predominantly cast or hand-hammered from solid sterling silver or high-grade continental silver alloys. Details such as foliage, scrolls, or embossed shells were typically chased or engraved by skilled silversmiths.

Authentic Danish silver pieces usually feature official purity stamps, such as the three towers mark indicating standard silver quality, along with numerical purity indicators such as 830S or 925S. Maker marks, year stamps, or assay master initials are also frequently stamped into the silver surface.

A silver caddy spoon can be displayed on a sideboard top alongside tea canisters or arranged inside a glass display cabinet. It can also be paired with vintage ceramic or wooden tea service accessories on a tray.

Wash silver spoons by hand using warm water and a mild detergent, ensuring they are dried thoroughly with a soft cloth immediately after. Periodically apply a specialist silver polish with a microfibre cloth to remove oxidisation and preserve the polished finish.
