Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain, George III style mirrors feature elaborate Rococo or Neoclassical carving, characterised by C-scrolls, acanthus leaf motifs, and intricate crestings designed to sit above a fireplace mantelpiece.

These mirrors were typically crafted from carved pine or lime wood, coated with gesso, and finished using water or oil gilding with gold leaf over hand-blown silvered mirror glass plates.

Authentic pieces often display natural age-related crazing in the gesso layer, subtle wear revealing red or grey bole beneath the gold leaf, and hand-carved joinery on the rear timber frame.

Position the mirror above a mantelpiece or console table to serve as a focal point, pairing its detailed carving with clean-lined contemporary furniture or neutral wall colour schemes.

Dust the carved frame gently using a soft, dry camel-hair brush, avoiding liquid cleaners, water, or commercial polishes which can dissolve gesso and damage delicate gold leaf.
