In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised during the Victorian era, bow-fronted tables with marble tops were frequently manufactured by established cabinetmakers like Maples & Co. These pieces often served dual purposes as washstands, dressing tables, or writing desks in affluent residential settings.

Tables from this period typically feature solid mahogany or mahogany veneer frames over hardwood carcasses, fitted with hand-cut dovetail drawer joints. Tops were fitted with carved marble slabs, often combined with gallery backs and square tapered legs supported on brass castors.

Authentic pieces often feature stamped maker marks or metal trade plates inside drawers or on the underside of the frame. Additional indicators include period-correct drawer linings, original brass hardware, and hand-finished marble edges showing appropriate patination.

A marble top side table functions well as a hallway console, a dedicated writing desk in a home office, or a statement vanity table in a bedroom. The contrast of warm mahogany and cool white marble pairs smoothly with both traditional and contemporary neutral colour schemes.

Clean the marble surface with a pH-neutral cleaner to prevent etching on the stone. The mahogany framework should be dusted with a soft microfibre cloth and treated periodically with natural beeswax polish to maintain the timber finish, avoiding harsh liquid chemicals.
