Aramis Antiques has dated this Victorian Silver Christening Mug to the 1860s.
Either side of the shield, a bright cut garland loops round to meet at the handle. The top of the handle has a delightful detail with an indent for the thumb between the top and lower beads. There is a light gilt finish inside and the mug comes with it’s original silk and velvet lined box, with inscription for retained Mappin & Webb. This a superb antique with a good early date, in excellent condition.
