This is a superb and very decorative French Louis revival brass and mesh fire-screen, circa 1860 in date.

The shield shaped screen features a finely constructed brass frame decorated with dolphin handles, c-scrolls, a wire mesh backing and raised on out-swept feet.

Add some French glamour to you home with this lovely piece.

French Louis Revival fire screens were crafted during the nineteenth century, drawing design inspiration from eighteenth-century Louis XV and XVI styles. They were designed to shield room occupants from direct heat while adding decorative detail to unlit hearths.
