Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fusee wall clock utilises a cone-shaped pulley system connected by a chain or line to the mainspring barrel. This mechanical design equalises the force applied to the escapement as the mainspring unwinds, maintaining consistent timekeeping accuracy.

Victorian drop-dial wall clocks were typically crafted using dense timber veneers such as rosewood or mahogany over solid wood frames. Dials were commonly painted sheet metal or brass, framed by cast brass bezels with glass covers and detailed with mother-of-pearl or brass wire inlays.

Authentic 19th-century fusee clocks feature mechanical movements with a cone-shaped fusee gear, usually accessible through side doors on the casing. Dials frequently bear maker signatures alongside regional town names, painted Roman numerals, and hand-cut brass hands.

A Victorian drop-dial wall clock functions as an architectural focal point when positioned above a console table or within a hall gallery. The dark timber veneers and decorative inlay provide visual contrast against neutral or dark paint palettes.

Position the timber housing away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent veneer lifting or inlay loss. Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth, apply natural beeswax polish periodically to the wood casing, and arrange professional horological servicing every five to seven years.
