Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency hall chairs were designed for entryways and corridors in early nineteenth-century residences to provide temporary seating for callers and servants. They were constructed without upholstery to prevent wear from damp outerwear and were styled to reflect the architectural taste of the household.

Dense hardwoods such as solid mahogany were preferred for their durability and suitability for intricate hand-carving. Construction typically involved mortise and tenon joinery, solid wooden seat panels, and turned or shaped leg profiles.

Authentic pieces from the Regency period exhibit hand-carved decoration, classic proportions influenced by Greek and Roman motifs, reeded or sabre legs, and original joinery techniques. Inspection of the underside often reveals hand-sawn timber marks and traditional drawer or frame construction.

Positioning a pair of hall chairs in an entrance vestibule flanking a console table or along a hallway creates structure and architectural interest. Their slim profile allows them to serve as decorative accents in narrow spaces without impeding traffic flow.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a light coat of beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep items away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, split panels, or fading of the natural finish.
