Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian photo frames, produced between 1901 and 1910, often feature elaborate repousse metalwork, organic foliate patterns, and distinct geometric or circular apertures. They reflect the transition from heavy Victorian designs to lighter motifs influenced by the Art Nouveau movement.

These frames typically consist of a thin sheet of embossed or repousse silver mounted onto a sturdy wooden backboard, frequently lined with velvet or silk. A hinged easel strut on the reverse provides support for tabletop display.

Authentic British silver frames bear full hallmarks stamped into the metal, indicating the maker mark, fineness mark, assay office mark, and date letter. Period examples also display age-appropriate wear on the backing fabric and construction joints.

A silver frame can be placed on a mantelpiece, console table, or desk alongside contemporary books and ceramics to create textural contrast. Displaying monochrome photographs within classical frames bridges traditional and modern aesthetic schemes.

Dust the metal surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and polish gently using a specialist silver polishing cloth to prevent tarnish accumulation. Avoid abrasive pastes or liquid cleaners that could seep into the fabric lining or compromise the wooden backing.
