Salisbury Antiques Centre has dated this Burr Walnut Writing Desk to the 1930s.

The rectangular top is fitted with three inset panels of tooled brown leather, each decorated with delicate gilt tooling around the borders, providing a practical and refined writing surface. Beneath the top sits an arrangement of five drawers, including a long central drawer flanked by two pairs of smaller drawers. All drawers retain their decorative brass drop handles and open smoothly, revealing mahogany lined interiors with traditional dovetail construction.

The shaped apron beneath the central drawer features a carved shell motif, adding a touch of classical elegance. The desk stands on gracefully carved cabriole legs with scroll decoration to the knees, terminating in pad feet which further emphasise its refined silhouette.

Combining practicality with decorative craftsmanship, this charming burr walnut writing desk would make an excellent ladies desk, dressing table or compact study desk. A handsome and versatile piece that would sit beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
