A pair of oil paintings on canvas featuring sailing boats at dusk by 19th century Dutch artist Adrian Van Porten.

They have a great deal of atmosphere and a feeling of antiquity. We have recently had these paintings professionally cleaned and the details and colours have emerged strongly..

They are housed in beautiful and ornate frames made from carved wood and decorated with gilt gesso.

Each are signed by the artist and in good condition commensurate with age with no losses but a bit of crackling.

Van Porten's work has come up for sale at Christies and other London auction houses frequently and is well thought of. Most of his paintings were of marine subjects. Signed lower left.
