Lavar Kirman (or Ravar Kerman) rugs are fine Persian textiles woven in the Kerman region of south-eastern Iran, celebrated for their exceptionally high knot count and fine wool quality. Pictorial examples feature figurative representations, portraiture, or narrative scenes rather than purely geometric or floral patterns.

These textiles are traditionally hand-knotted using fine spun wool pile woven onto a cotton warp and weft foundation. Artisans employed asymmetric Persian knots to achieve extremely detailed designs and soft gradations of colour.

Authentic pieces exhibit dense hand-knotting, soft curvilinear lines, and natural vegetable dyes that age to mellow tones over time. The back of the textile reveals a clear, distinct knot structure corresponding directly to the pattern visible on the front.
