We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A William IV wine table is a small, portable piece of English accent furniture produced during the reign of King William IV between 1830 and 1837. Typically crafted from rich dark woods like mahogany, these tables feature turned central columns and compact bases designed to hold beverages or candles beside armchairs.

These tables were primarily constructed using solid or veneered mahogany, chosen for its tight grain and durability. Cabinetmakers utilised hand-turned central shafts, hand-cut joinery beneath the top, and weight-stabilising triform or tripod bases grounded with flattened bun feet.

Authentic William IV pieces bridging the Regency and Victorian eras display bolder, heavier turnings on the central pedestal compared to delicate 18th-century tripod tables. Key signs include hand-planed undersides, original timber screw fittings, and uneven natural oxidation across the timber.

Position the table beside a modern armchair or sofa as an functional surface for beverages or small table lamps. Its compact footprint makes it ideal for filling narrow alcoves, reading nooks, or spaces adjacent to fireplace hearths.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a beeswax polish once or twice a year along the direction of the grain. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and moisture to prevent wood movement and finish breakdown.
