Gents Omega Automatic Wrist Watch, 1962

1940 - 1960
Description

The watch has a 24 jewel calibre 552 automatic movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 19,603,709 which dates it back to 1962.

The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the signed Omega winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold plated with a stainless steel back. It is all in good condition, just some slight rubbing if you look very closely. The inside of the case back has the Omega logo and also the case reference 14753 SC-61 which is correct for the calibre 552 movement, and it confirms the year of manufacture.

The lens is in good condition, just a couple of minor marks, again you need to look closely to see them.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, centre seconds hand and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Omega automatic watches from the 1960s feature self-winding Swiss mechanical movements housed in refined gold or stainless steel cases, representing mid-century horology and classic dial design.

Wristwatches from this period were crafted using solid gold, gold-plated, or stainless steel cases, paired with acrylic crystals, metallic dials, and high-grade leather straps.

Authentic examples feature the Omega brand logo crisp on the dial, official reference and serial numbers stamped on the inside case back, and branded markings on the movement and crown.

A vintage timepiece can be displayed on a valet tray, leather dressing dish, or bedside table alongside brass accessories to introduce a tactile horological detail to bedroom decor.

Keep mechanical timepieces away from water, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields, storing them in a padded case and having the movement professionally serviced every three to five years.
