Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Irish Chippendale furniture from the 19th century is defined by robust proportions, dense mahogany wood, and deep relief carving. Key features include cabriole legs, acanthus leaf motifs on the knees, dish or scalloped rims, and carved claw-and-ball feet.

These tables were primarily constructed using dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its fine grain and stability. Secondary woods like pine or oak were used for drawer linings, complemented by cast brass hardware for drawer pulls.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, hand-carved decorative motifs with minor variations, and natural age oxidation on the underside of timber surfaces. The weight of dense solid mahogany and authentic wear around the feet and handles also indicate genuine age.

Position the side table alongside low-profile contemporary seating to highlight its carved legs and silhouette. Contrast the dark mahogany wood with neutral wall finishes, contemporary ceramic vessels, or minimalist table lamps.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, following the wood grain. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber, avoiding chemical sprays, excess moisture, and direct sunlight.
