A Regency Mahogany Fold Over Side Table C1820

Description

A Regency Mahogany fold over side table dating from around 1820. This lovely piece has a rounded edge to the top with a wide lip underneath which has a half bobbin moulded edge. The top turns to reveal a storage compartment. It then folds over. It stands on square pedestal shaped central support which also has the half bobbin moulding as does the quadra form base which stands on four shaped legs on original Brass shoe castors.

A Regency fold-over table is a piece of English furniture produced between 1811 and 1830, designed with a hinged top that swivels and unfolds to double its surface area. These versatile tables were traditionally used as card, games, or tea tables in formal reception rooms.
