Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popular during the Regency and William IV periods, turn-over tables were designed as versatile, space-saving furniture. They functioned as decorative console or side tables when folded against a wall and could be swivelled open to double their surface area for playing cards or serving tea.

These tables were typically constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, prized for their rich grain patterns such as flame mahogany. Secondary timbers like pine or oak were commonly used for internal framing and drawer or compartment lining.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional wooden swivelling hinges, and heavy, solid timber pedestal supports. Looking beneath the top often reveals natural timber oxidisation and evidence of historical hand-saw marks.

Positioned in a hallway or entry space, it acts as an elegant narrow console table. In a living room or reception space, it can be styled with table lamps and ceramic objects, or opened out when additional tabletop surface is required.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme fluctuations in humidity to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer lifting.
