Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian enamel patch box is a small decorative container produced during the eighteenth century, originally used to hold facial beauty patches made of silk or velvet. These boxes were frequently sold as commemorative souvenirs from towns or spa resorts and often featured hand-painted sentiments or local scenes on their lids.

These pieces were crafted by fusing powdered glass enamel onto thin copper forms at elevated temperatures. The lid and base were bound using a hinged brass or copper-gilt mount, and many examples included a polished metal or glass mirror fitted inside the lid.

Authentic period enamels feature hand-fitted copper-gilt mounts, subtle surface crazing or fine hair-line cracking near the metal borders, and individual hand-painted or transfer-printed detailing. Modern reproductions typically display uniform machine-made fittings and thicker base metals.

An enamel box can be styled by placing it atop a stack of art books, displaying it inside a glazed cabinet, or arranging it on a vanity tray alongside contemporary stone or ceramic accessories to create tactile interest.

Enamel boxes must be kept in stable environments away from high humidity and direct sunlight, which can induce cracking or metal oxidisation. Dust gently with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding water, solvents, or abrasive metal polishes.
