Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century England, enamel patch boxes were small decorative containers used to hold facial patches made of silk or velvet. Produced predominantly in regions like Bilston and Wednesbury, these boxes featured hand-painted designs, mottos, or classical imagery.

These boxes were constructed by fusing powdered glass to a shaped copper substrate at high temperatures, creating a vitreous enamel finish. Hand-fitted metal mounts, typically crafted from brass or alloy, joined the hinged lid to the base.

Authentic Georgian enamels display characteristic fine stress cracks, hand-painted decorative details with minor brushstroke variations, and handmade metal mounts with subtle irregular joints. Original examples often retain a internal polished steel or glass mirror inside the lid.

Small enamel boxes function well as delicate decorative accents when displayed on a tray, bookshelf, or vanity table. Grouping multiple boxes together creates an engaging focal point within traditional or eclectic interior schemes.

Enamel surfaces should be dusted lightly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and kept away from direct moisture or abrasive chemical cleaners. To prevent chipping, avoid dropping the box and handle metal mounts gently when opening or closing.
