Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A vitrine is a glass-fronted cabinet designed to display items, porcelain, or collectibles while protecting them from dust and damage. Popularised during the 18th and 19th centuries, these pieces frequently feature glazed doors, brass mountings, and decorative interior fabric linings.

Early 20th-century vitrines frequently feature hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, solid brass mouldings or mounts, and glass panels. Interiors are often lined with silk, moire, or velvet fabrics to contrast with displayed items.

Authentic 1930s vitrines showcase refined woodworking with Neoclassical or early modern influences, solid brass trim held by small pins or screws, and period-appropriate door locks. Inspect the cabinet for traditional joinery, such as dovetail joints on drawers and hand-fitted mortise and tenon construction.

A mahogany vitrine functions as a focal piece in living rooms, dining spaces, or hallways. It can display curated contemporary ceramics, leather-bound books, or glassware, balancing classic proportions with modern decor elements.

Dust the wood surfaces regularly with a clean microfibre cloth and apply a neutral beeswax polish sparingly along the grain. Clean glass panels using a gentle glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than sprayed directly on the surface, keeping liquids away from brass fittings and fabric interiors.
