Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A guilloche enamel scent bottle features a decorative technique where an engine-turned geometric pattern is engraved into metal, typically sterling silver, and covered with translucent enamel. Popularised in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these compact vessels were designed for dressing tables and travel to store liquid fragrances.

These bottles typically feature hand-cut or molded heavy glass bodies fitted with sterling silver collars and caps. The silver tops are decorated with vitreous guilloche enamel, where coloured glass powder is fused onto the textured silver surface under high temperatures.

Authentic silver scent bottles generally carry official assay office hallmarks stamped on the collar or cap rim, indicating silver purity, date, and maker marks. Genuine guilloche enamel shows precise underlying metal engraving beneath a durable, smooth surface without synthetic resin residue.

Displaying antique scent bottles on a mirrored vanity tray, a marble bathroom countertop, or an open bedroom shelf adds subtle elegance. Grouping items of varying heights alongside glass jars or small silver accessories creates a structured decorative vignette.

Wipe glass and enamelled surfaces gently using a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints and dust. Avoid soaking the bottle in liquid or using harsh chemicals, as moisture can loosen the silver mounts and abrasive cleaners can scratch delicate enamel.
