A Georgian double series opaque twist ale glass is an eighteenth-century British drinking vessel distinguished by a stem containing white enamel spirals enclosed within clear lead glass. Popularised in the mid-to-late eighteenth century, these glasses feature elongated bowls designed for consuming ale.

Glassmakers arranged white enamel canes around the interior of a cylindrical mould, filled the vessel with molten clear lead glass, and subsequently drew and twisted the gathered glass to create spiral patterns before affixing the bowl and foot.

Authentic period examples generally display a slight greyish or grey-green hue in the lead glass, organic irregularities in the spiral twist, natural friction wear to the underside of the foot, and evidence of a pontil scar.

Antique stemware can be arranged on a sideboard top, curated within a illuminated glazed display cabinet, or styled on a dining table as part of a formal table setting.

Clean items manually in lukewarm water using a mild washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid dishwashers and sudden temperature changes, which can induce thermal shock or clouding.
