Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in Buckinghamshire, England, during the early eighteenth century, the Windsor chair developed as a vernacular form of seating where vertical spindles and turned legs were driven directly into socket holes carved within a solid wooden seat.

Traditional Windsor chairs utilise a combination of native hardwoods: solid elm is typically carved for the thick saddle seat due to its split-resistant cross-grain, while ash or yew is steam-bent for the back hoops, arms, and turned spindles.

Authentic period examples demonstrate hand-carved saddle seats with visible tool marks underneath, wedged through-tenons on the top of the legs, and natural wear patterns consistent with age on the stretcher rails and armrests.

A traditional Windsor chair functions well as an accent chair beside a fireplace, at the end of a contemporary dining table, or in an entryway to balance minimalist modern architecture with organic wood grain.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish annually along the wood grain to maintain patination, avoiding modern spray chemicals or direct heat sources.
