Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Nouveau cameo glass refers to decorative art glass produced during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, characterised by organic, nature-inspired motifs produced through fusing layered glass and acid-etching or carving away upper layers to reveal contrasting colors beneath.

Cameo glass is created by blowing a inner layer of glass and overlaying it with one or more additional layers of different coloured glass. Patterns are then etched into the outer layers using hydrofluoric acid or hand-carving techniques to expose the underlying glass shade and create a raised relief design.

Authentic Galle pieces generally feature a cameo-etched or incised signature integrated into the pattern, precise depth in the glass layers, smooth fire-polished finish, and organic botanical motifs typical of the Nancy School in France.

Position the vase where natural light can filter through the translucent glass layers, such as on a windowsill, glass shelf, or lit cabinet. It functions as a refined accent piece on a mantelpiece or sideboard alongside neutral ceramics or minimal architectural decor.

Clean gently using tepid water and a mild liquid dish soap with a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid immersion in hot water, harsh chemical detergents, and abrasive pads, which can damage the delicate etched surface.
