S and S Timms Antiques Ltd has dated this Chippendale Rococo Giltwood Mirror to the Georgian era.
In terms of overall condition the gilt retains a lovely vivid colour to it, whilst not being overpoweringly shiny and bright like any that have been totally regilded. In fact this lovely mirror almost certainly retains its original gilding with various touched up sections throughout the years.
It should also be noted that as expected for something of this age and it’s relatively delicate nature there is some historic breaks and repairs to the frame, all of which have been sympathetically repaired and restored to blend in beautifully over the course of its history. The mirror plate itself is also replaced, but is actually old and in very good condition.
The mirror is a good size in terms of its functionality, big enough to have presence in a room, but at the same time small enough to retain elegance and not be overpowering.
In fact we believe that of its type this is one of the nicest we have had through our stock in quite some time.
As with all the items which we offer for sale, this chippendale gilt mirror has been attended to in the traditional manner at our workshops before being offered for sale, by our highly trained and skilled antique furniture restorers to ensure that it is in good retail condition and ready to be placed immediately into the home or workplace.
