Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Windsor chair is characterized by a solid timber seat into which the back spindles, steam-bent bow, and legs are socketed using wedged mortise and tenon joints, rather than continuing the back legs up to form the back frame.

English Windsor chairs were typically constructed using a combination of regional hardwoods, commonly featuring elm for the shaped seat, yew or ash for steam-bent components such as the arm bow and hoop back, and beech or fruitwood for turned spindles and legs.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-shaped saddle seats with visible tool marks on the underside, natural wear on the turnings where feet rested, rich patination around the armrests, and shrinkage gaps in round joinery caused by centuries of wood drying.

A Windsor chair serves as a versatile accent piece in modern minimalist, rustic farmhouse, or contemporary country settings, working well individually in a hallway, beside a fireplace, or positioned at a writing desk.

Preserve the finish by keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying a thin coat of clear beeswax paste once or twice a year to maintain moisture balance.
