Very Attractive Late Georgian Longcase Clock by George Slater of Uttoxeter Staffordshire. He was born in 1804 at Weston on Trent, son of Joseph Slater who was also a Clockmaker at Uttoxeter.
George, presumably took over from his father who died in 1822, and worked at Uttoxeter until 1836 when he moved to Burslem Staffs, where he succeeded W. Wain. In 1841 he moved to Tunstall Staffs till 1863. He was also working out of Kids grove Staffs 1860-61 and then at Wolstanton Staffs 1871-3. Though, by the sounds, he had really retired by 1871.
Raised on Bracket Feet the case Stands 88.5in or 224cm High Approximately. It comes with it''s Original ''Wavy'' Glass to the Hood Door.
The 8 Day Hour Striking Movement has been well Maintained over the Last 200 Years. Tested & Offered in Good Working Order.
