Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver-plated trays, produced between 1901 and 1910, typically reflect a transition from heavy Victorian ornamentation to lighter, neoclassically inspired designs. Common characteristics include gadrooned borders, shell motifs, integral hand-holds, and polished reflective surfaces crafted for domestic serving.

Edwardian silver plate was predominantly manufactured using electroplated nickel silver (EPNS), where a thin layer of pure silver was deposited onto a sturdy base alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc through electrolysis.

Authenticity can be verified by examining manufacturer makers marks or stamps on the underside, such as EPNS or maker initials like Mappin & Webb, along with period-appropriate construction features such as cast handles and hand-chased ornamentation.

A silver tray serves as a functional foundation on a sideboard, ottoman, or bar cart to group glassware, decanters, or small decorative items. Its reflective surface reflects light and adds contrast against timber or marble surfaces.

Silver-plated items should be cleaned gently using specialized silver polishes applied with a soft microfibre cloth to avoid removing the thin layer of silver plating. Regular dusting and avoiding harsh chemical abrasive cleaners will prevent oxidisation and preserve the original finish.
