Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the eighteenth century, patch boxes were small containers used to carry fabric beauty patches made of silk or velvet, which individuals applied to the face to conceal skin blemishes or follow prevailing fashions.

Patch boxes from the late Georgian period were predominantly made from sterling silver, gold, or enamel, often featuring hand-engraved bright-cut decoration, fitted friction lids, or small internal mirrors.

Authentic pieces usually bear British hallmark impressions including the monarchs profile duty mark, a makers mark, the lion passant for sterling quality, and a date letter corresponding to the late eighteenth century.

A small silver patch box can be styled as a decorative accent on a dressing table, placed on top of a stack of books, or displayed within a glass curio cabinet alongside other antique metalwork.

Silver boxes should be polished gently with a specialized silver cloth to remove light tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips or abrasives that can strip surface engraving and natural historical patina.
