Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An 18th-century oak bureau is a piece of case furniture featuring a sloping hinged fall-front that opens to reveal a fitted writing surface, pigeonholes, and small interior drawers, positioned above full-width storage drawers.

Early oak bureaux typically feature hand-cut dovetail joints, solid oak drawer linings, hand-planed back panels, and cast brass hardware such as batwing or swan-neck handles.

Authenticity can be determined by examining hand-planed timber surfaces, period iron lock plates, authentic wear on drawer runners, and hand-cut joinery consistent with 18th-century craftsmanship.

An oak bureau functions effectively as a compact workstation in a living area or hallway, providing hidden storage for modern devices and stationery while serving as a focal piece.

Maintain solid oak by dusting with a soft dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish twice a year along the grain to nourish the timber and preserve its natural patination.
