Gillers Antiques Ltd has dated these Pair Japanese Satsuma Vases to the 1920s.
Midnight-blue bands divide two alternating scenes: a mountainous landscape with pagodas among pines, and a lavish chrysanthemum garden with butterflies. Painting is crisp and confident; gilding at rims, shoulders and footrings is immaculate with a soft kirabiki sheen. Bases bear the clear red TASHIRO cartouche.
