Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An 18th-century Irish drop-leaf dining table is a wooden dining table produced in Ireland during the Georgian period, characterized by hinged leaves that fold down to conserve space and cabriole legs often featuring distinct carved details.

Georgian drop-leaf tables were predominantly constructed from dense Cuban mahogany or native hardwoods, using hand-cut dovetail joints, wooden hinges, and brass hardware for structural stability.

Authentic pieces display signs of hand-planing, irregular oak or pine secondary drawer linings, natural oxidation on unpolished undersides, and distinct regional carving techniques on the knees and feet.

A drop-leaf table can be positioned against a wall with leaves lowered as a side console, or fully extended with contemporary chairs to create a functional dining space.

Dust surfaces regularly with a clean microfiber cloth, apply beeswax sparingly along the grain twice a year, and keep the table away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood movement and finish degradation.
