Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Malayer rugs originate from the town of Malayer and its surrounding villages in northwestern Iran. Produced primarily during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these rugs are renowned for combining village weaving traditions with refined geometric and floral motifs.

These rugs are woven using hand-spun wool pile knotted onto a durable cotton warp and weft foundation. Traditional weavers used vegetable and plant-based dyes to create rich colours including indigo, madder root pink, and cream.

Authentic pieces exhibit single-weft construction, fine knotting density, and subtle colour variations known as abrash. Patterns often feature repeating boteh (paisley) designs, medallion centres, and distinct floral border frames.

A patterned Persian rug serves as a grounding element in contemporary rooms, anchored under mid-century modern or contemporary furniture. The detailed motifs and warm colour palette complement both light hardwood floors and neutral upholstery.

Suction-only vacuuming without a rotating motorised brush prevents damage to the pile fibers. Spills should be blotted immediately with a clean cloth, and professional cleaning by a rug specialist is recommended periodically.
