Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating as architectural accent furniture designed to sit flat against a wall or pier between windows, console tables with marble tops became prominent display pieces in 19th-century entryways and reception rooms.

These tables were typically constructed from solid mahogany or rosewood frames, often veneered with flame mahogany, and fitted with polished slabs of white Carrara or veined marble on top.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved details such as scroll legs and paw feet, hand-sawn carcass construction, genuine age-related patination on the timber, and hand-chiselled undersides on the stone.

Positioning a mahogany pier table in a contemporary hallway or entrance hall creates a distinct focal point when paired with modern artwork or a large mirror mounted above.

Clean the timber surfaces using a soft cloth and natural beeswax polish, while protecting the marble top from acidic liquids by applying a stone sealant and wiping spills immediately.
