Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain originates from the Arita region of Japan and was exported through the port of Imari, with the Genroku period (16881704) representing a peak era of artistic innovation and refined ceramic production.

Traditional Imari porcelain utilizes a kaolin clay vessel painted with an underglaze cobalt blue pattern, fired at high heat, and subsequently embellished with overglaze iron-red enamel and gold gilding.

Authentic period pieces often feature spur marks on the underside, subtle glaze imperfections, hand-painted variation in the blue underglaze, and visible gentle wear on the overglaze gilded highlights.

An antique Imari bowl functions effectively as a focal point on a sideboard top, coffee table, or displayed inside an open bookcase to add historic texture and colour contrast.

Washing should be conducted by hand using lukewarm water and a soft non-abrasive cloth with mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, scrubbers, or mechanical dishwashers that strip gilded decoration.
