Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian upholstered stools typically feature solid hardwood frames, such as mahogany or rosewood, paired with hand-stitched needlepoint or velvet textiles. Emerging in the nineteenth century, these versatile pieces served as footrests, piano seats, or dressing table companion furniture in traditional homes.

Victorian craftspeople primarily utilised dark hardwoods like solid mahogany, walnut, or rosewood for the structural legs and frame. The upholstery was commonly stuffed with horsehair or wool and covered in hand-worked tapestry, accented around the border with brass upholstery studs.

Authentic Victorian pieces feature hand-turned or carved solid wood legs showing natural patination and minor wear from age. Examining the underside often reveals traditional joinery, original webbing, and hand-tacked upholstery fasteners rather than modern staples.

A Victorian needlepoint stool works effectively as an occasional seat beside a fireplace, beneath a hallway console, or paired with a reading armchair. The woven floral textures and dark wood provide contrast when set against neutral, contemporary backdrops.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and textile fading. Dust the mahogany regularly with a soft cloth and apply beeswax sparingly, while gently vacuuming the upholstery using a soft brush attachment.
