Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian sterling silver cream jugs from the 1890s frequently featured elaborate revivalist styles, including Rococo motifs, ornate repousse work, and detailed pastoral scenes. These pieces were crafted as part of formal tea services or as standalone tabletop accessories for serving cream or milk.

These jugs were crafted from sterling silver, containing 92.5 percent pure silver, often hammered or raised by hand with raised repousse and chased decoration. The interior was frequently finished with a thin layer of gold wash, known as vermeil, to prevent acidic liquids like milk or cream from reacting with and tarnishing the metal.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces feature a complete set of hallmarks stamped into the metal, including the lion passant mark for sterling quality, an assay office symbol, a makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique silver cream jug can be displayed on a sideboard top or dining table alongside contemporary ceramics to provide metallic contrast, or repurposed as a small vessel for delicate floral stems.

Clean sterling silver periodically using a soft cloth and a specialised silver polish formulated to remove tarnish without stripping delicate chasing details or interior gilding. Avoid using abrasive sponges or harsh chemical dips, and store pieces in anti-tarnish cloth bags when not in use.
