Excellent original patina and signed by the artist bottom right of the base. Paul-Édouard Delabrierre, born in Paris in 1829 was a highly regarded sculptor specialising in animals; this piece being typical of his works. He exhibited over 70 pieces of his work at the prestigious Paris Salon and he sculpted two lions, which are set on the facade of the Louvre.
