Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A centre table is a freestanding table designed to be placed in the middle of a room or grand hallway rather than against a wall. Popular during the Regency, William IV, and Victorian periods, these tables frequently served as focal points for display or informal dining.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted using solid mahogany for the turned or carved structural components, paired with flame mahogany veneers applied over pine or oak cores for the decorative tabletop and apron.

Authentic pieces feature period-appropriate construction details such as hand-carved motifs, fluted central columns, quadripartite bases, and brass castors concealed beneath carved paw or bun feet. Additionally, natural shrinkage and age-related patination on the underside of the timber indicate genuine age.

A centre table can be placed in a large entryway, foyer, or living space to display books, ceramic vessels, or floral arrangements. Combining the deep timber tones with contemporary artwork or understated lighting creates a balanced contrast between traditional and modern elements.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or veneer lifting. Clean surfaces using a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the natural grain and finish.
