Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised during the early 19th century in Britain, a Regency centre table was designed to sit in the middle of a room or entrance hall. Many featured a hinged tilt-top mechanism that allowed the surface to fold vertically, enabling the table to be stored against a wall when additional floor space was required.

These tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany, with high-figured flame mahogany or rosewood veneers arranged in geometric patterns like sunbursts. Supporting frames featured turned or carved pedestals on quadform bases, fitted with brass castors and metal tilt latches.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut flame mahogany veneers, original brass tilt mechanisms, and period-correct hardware such as brass castors. Look for hand-carved decorative elements, such as acanthus leaves or scroll feet, along with natural age wear on the underside of the base.

Place the table as a focal point in a large foyer or dining space, topped with a sculptural vessel or floral display. Alternatively, store it with the top tilted upward against a prominent wall to display the decorative timber figure as a piece of natural art.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax paste twice yearly to nourish the timber. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent the thin veneer layers from lifting, drying, or fading.
