A Wellington chest is a tall, narrow chest of drawers originally named after the First Duke of Wellington following his victory at Waterloo. Popularised during the 19th century, these pieces typically feature a column of seven drawers secured by a hinged vertical locking flap down one side.

Victorian Wellington chests were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany, walnut, or oak, often finished with flame mahogany veneers. Drawer linings were commonly crafted from pine or oak, fitted with hand-cut dovetail joints and brass drop or knob handles.
