Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1830 and 1837, William IV furniture bridges the refined proportions of the Regency era and the bolder ornamentation of the early Victorian period. Key features include prominent carved mouldings, scrollwork, and sturdy turned or carved pedestal supports.

Flame mahogany and solid Cuban mahogany were heavily favoured during this period for their dense structure and rich grain patterns. Construction methods frequently involved solid mahogany legs combined with veneered tops over oak or pine casings.

Authentic pieces display period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, timber shrinkage marks along non-visible surfaces, and original brass castors under the feet. Finished backs on freestanding models indicate the table was designed to sit centrally rather than against a wall.

A substantial mahogany library table works well as a focal point in a large entryway or central study space. Pairing the dark timber with light, neutral walls and contemporary art creates a balanced contrast between historical craft and modern design.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying high-quality clear beeswax once or twice a year along the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber movement or finish fading.
