Ribbed engine turned front with blank (unengraved) circular cartouche to the centre. Curved ends with curled lip for ease of opening. Opens to reveal a gilt interior with shaped lip forming a holder for the card of matches. The back with matching ribbed engraving to the front. Bears the makers mark for William Neale.
