Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian display cabinets from the 18th century are known for their symmetrical proportions, classical architectural influences, and construction using dense West Indian mahogany. Key features often include moulded cornices, blind fretwork friezes, and glazed doors designed to display porcelain or library volumes.

Cabinetmakers during the Georgian era primarily utilized solid mahogany and mahogany veneers over secondary woods such as oak or pine. Glazed sections featured hand-blown cylinder glass held within wooden glazing bars, finished with brass hardware and escape escutcheons.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular hand-drawn glass panes, and original timber backboards with natural shrink gaps or hand-planed finishes. The interior shelves often show manual tool marks and age-appropriate wear to the timber surface.

A period glazed cabinet can be styled by pairing dark mahogany tones with contemporary neutral wall colours or modern wallpaper. Displaying a mix of stoneware ceramics, curated art books, and minimal glass decorative objects balances the historical weight of the piece.

Clean timber surfaces periodically using a soft cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain moisture balance. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber warping or veneer lifting.
