Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in mid-18th century Britain, Chippendale style incorporates elements of Rococo, Gothic, and Chinese design traditions, most recognisably featured through carved pierced back splats, cabriole legs, and dense mahogany wood construction.

Georgian armchairs were primarily crafted using solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, joined with hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, hand-carved decorative motifs, and upholstered drop-in or stuffed seats secured with webbing.

Authentic period pieces display hand-saw marks on frame undersides, irregular hand-carved ornamentation, oxidation on unvarnished interior wood surfaces, and period-appropriate joinery without modern machine-cut screws or synthetic glues.

A period carved armchair serves as a focal accent chair in contemporary living areas, studies, or bedrooms, providing a historical contrast when paired with minimalist architecture, neutral textiles, and modern lighting.

Maintain mahogany timber by applying a natural beeswax polish twice yearly, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and cleaning textile upholstery gently with a soft brush or low-suction vacuum attachment.
