This charming and highly functional small Regency mahogany writing table is constructed from rich, well-figured mahogany, the table features a beautifully polished square top with a mellow, warm patina developed over two centuries. The top conceals a clever and versatile interior, which reveals itself when the hinged lid is opened to display a new hand dyed leather writing surface, making it ideal for use as a compact writing desk or occasional table. The writing surface angle can be adjusted with a wooden ratchet stand underneath.

Beneath the top is a single frieze drawer, fitted with two turned wooden knobs and sectioned inside. The drawer operates smoothly and provides additional storage while maintaining the understated elegance of the piece.

The table is raised on four finely turned legs, a classic Regency feature, each terminating in brass castors, allowing the table to be easily moved. The slender proportions, sophisticated design, and multi-functional top make this table a superb choice for a period interior, whether used as a writing table, side table, or decorative accent.
