Description

Regency Mahogany Work Table, circa 1820

A fine quality Regency period mahogany work table, featuring a rectangular top with drop-leaf sides above a pair of mahogany-lined drawers. The drawers retain their original turned knobs and contrasting inlaid veneers, giving the piece both elegance and character. The reverse side features dummy drawer fronts, enhancing its symmetry and balance.

The table stands on a well-turned central support above a quadripartite base, with elegantly splayed legs terminating in original brass paw caps and castors, allowing ease of movement. The beautifully figured mahogany and rich patina reflect its early 19th-century craftsmanship.

This versatile piece would make a superb side or lamp table, as well as a decorative accent in a traditional or period-inspired interior. Remaining in very good, showing very minor signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
