WelshAntiques has dated this Antique Mahogany Longcase Clock to the 19th Century.
The name of the maker is rubbed, but can be made out as being "Ja Harvey".
A James Tracey Harvey, probably his son, was recorded in High Street in 1830 and Frogmore Street in 1852.
The arch has a painting of the parable of Christ at the well with the Samaritan woman, and the corner spandrels are painted with ladies in various poses.
The case is of mahogany with flame-mahogany veneers and cross-banding. The hood has a swan neck pediment with brass embellishments and a shaped door flanked by fluted pillars with Corinthian terminals, above a trunk with a long rectangular door flanked by fluted corners, over a plain base raised on front bracket feet. In good original condition with a wonderful surface patination.
The movement is complete and original, but may require a service.
