We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian jelly glasses were developed during the eighteenth century specifically for serving cold jellies, syllabubs, creams, and sweetmeats at formal dining tables. Designed with flared or dish tops and footed stems, these vessels allowed desserts to be displayed prominently on glass pyramids or dessert trays.

These glasses were hand-blown using heavy lead glass, known for its clarity and resonant ring. Craftsmen shaped the bowls by hand, often adding mold-blown or cut fluting, and joined them to solid or knopped stems fused onto flat circular feet.

Authentic period examples often feature a distinct greyish or dark tint within the lead glass, evidence of a snapped or ground pontil mark under the foot, and slight variations in height or bowl shape due to hand production. Natural operational wear is also typically present around the underside of the base rim.

Period glassware can be arranged in grouped sets along a dining table centrepiece or displayed inside glazed cabinets and on sideboard tops. They also serve as functional vessels for small desserts or amuse-bouches during dinner service.

Wash stemware individually by hand using lukewarm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding dishwashers which cause clouding and thermal shock. Dry immediately with a lint-free soft cloth, and store standing upright rather than inverted on the rims.
