Matching thermometer scale to the middle of the barometer trunk with original mercury action thermometer tube. Octagonal cistern cover to the base with carved flower to the centre. Remote action vernier marker with bone turning knob to the top of the trunk. Bears the makers name Adie & Sons, Edinburgh, highly regarded makers who were opticians to William IV and Queen Victoria. Presented in immaculate condition, fully restored and working. Background to Alexander Adie who started the firm Adie & Sons in 1835 can be viewed on a Community Trust website - www.aact.scot/history-blog/canaan-house-alexander-adie-1775-1858. Measures 5" wide at the pediment and 2.25" wide at the trunk x 2" maximum depth at the pediment x 39" high.
