Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George V sterling silver photo frame dates from the reign of King George V (19101936) and features official British hallmarks indicating silver purity, city of assay, and date of manufacture. These frames typically exhibit restrained, classic proportions influenced by Edwardian and early Art Deco design transitions.

These frames were traditionally crafted by forming shaped sheets of sterling silver mounted onto a wooden, leather, or fabric backing. An integrated easel support mechanism was attached to the rear to allow freestanding tabletop placement.

Authentic English silver pieces feature a full set of British hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, an anchor symbol for the Birmingham assay office, and a specific date letter corresponding to 1914. Makers initials are also stamped directly into the metal.

An antique silver frame can be styled on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or desk alongside modern ceramics and books to create balanced visual texture. Combining polished silver surfaces with warm timber backdrop materials helps integrate historic metalwork into contemporary settings.

Clean the silver surface using a soft microfibre cloth and a mild silver polish specifically formulated to prevent abrasion. Avoid submerging the frame in liquid or applying polish directly to the fabric or wooden backing to prevent moisture damage.
